Krypton Chemicals has introduced a groundbreaking innovation—the almost “hydrophilic” BBA Polyurea Membrane for Roof Waterproofing. This advanced membrane can be applied directly to wet surfaces, including concrete, bitumen, mastic asphalt, and single-ply PVC roof decks.

In Ireland, frequent rain showers often halt roof waterproofing projects, requiring up to four hours of drying time before work can resume.

With this innovative solution, waterproofing can continue even in wet conditions, eliminating delays, enhancing productivity, and enabling year-round project completion.

WET FUSION PROCESS

The application process utilizes a specially treated nylon geo-textile, enhanced with a high-frequency discharge (Corona) to improve surface adhesion. This unique geo-textile can be either adhesively fixed to a dry roof surface or mechanically secured to a wet roof.

If applied to a dry roof, subsequent rainfall will not impact the waterproofing process, as the hydrophilic polyurea can still be applied effectively.

For wet roof decks, the geo-textile is mechanically fastened using specialized screws and plates, ensuring resistance to wind uplift—even on high-rise buildings.

Once secured, the roof is waterproofed with 2kg per sqm of pure Rayston Polyurea Hot Spray, which cures in under five minutes. Fully certified by the BBA, this system offers a 25-year life expectancy.
